Business Owners Should Create a Linkedin Company PageIf you are a business owner, you know the need for internet marketing. You have a website and probably use Facebook because of its popularity. But what about other social media sites such as Linkedin?

If you are familiar with Linkedin, you know that it works great for networking in the professional world. You can keep in touch with clients or previous co-workers, add your online resume, find another job, get recommendations from previous employers or clients and also network to find new clients and customers!

But wait…there’s more! Business owners should use Linkedin to promote their company.  After joining Linkedin, you should create a Linkedin company page.

Here are several reasons why you should create a Linkedin company page:

  • Similar to creating a business page on Facebook, Linkedin also allows company pages which can have followers. This will allow followers to keep up with company news and updates.
  •  Just like you need your own personal recommendations, your company does also! You will be able to get company recommendations that will promote and help when consumers are looking for reviews or when potential clients are searching your business.
  • Business owners can post updates for those who are following their business page.
  • Products and services can and should be added to your company page; this also gives you the ability to showcase items by adding images and videos.

If you are a business owner, take advantage of this free opportunity with Linkedin. Linkedin is not as popular as Twitter or Facebook but it has over 135 million professionals who are networking! Are you looking for new opportunities? This is one FREE opportunity you don’t want to pass by this year!

Q. How can I get a job without experience?

A. In today’s economy,  unemployment has been high. Knowing how to get a job is important! I was reading about a college guy who tried to get a job with foursquare. (a popular social media website) Interestingly he got the job, even though he probably wasn’t the person with the best experience! How did he do this?

Most people think they need the right amount of schooling, experience and know how. But this guy didn’t even write perfect grammar in his initial email to the company. Wow! So, how did he get the job?

Here are some key factors I noticed which helped him get a job without experience:

  1. Find a company you admire and find fascinating - After Tristan found foursquare, he got to understand how the social media site worked for two months before he took any steps.
  2. Research who the key owners are  - Learning about foursquare, Tristan  surfed and researched the internet, who the owners were, then emailed them.
  3. Be passionate – The email that Tristan wrote was not perfect. But it was full of passion about what he did and how much he was impressed with foursquare. The company you want a job with needs to see your passion, determination and love for their company.
  4. Don’t give up so fast – It was only after his eighth email that Tristan heard back from foursquare’s co-founder,  Dennis. (Although this can really annoy someone, so be ready for it.)  :-P
  5. Be willing & prepared – Tristan had the door cracked. With an opportunity to meet Dennis, he quickly got a flight to the company office and was there, willing and ready for the interview.
Tristan makes a powerful statement I want to share with you:
“be so enamored with the product that you would work for the company even if they didnt hire you…more importantly find where the needs are within the organization and be willing to do whatever it takes to help them fill the need (work for free even!)…and MOST importantly make sure that you’re filling a need that the organization doesn’t have the resources to fill on its own.”
If you would like to read his story firsthand, go to Tristan’s blog, and check out the full story! You can get a job without experience…just like Tristan did with foursquare!
